What are the stages? What do they look like in real life?
Preconventional
Stage 1 Obedience and Punishment– If you dont complete assignments on time . You will not get a passing grade
Stage 2 Instrumental Orientation– Whats in it for me??
Conventional
Stage 3 Good Boy, nice girl Orientation– If I am nice to others I will be accepted.
Stage 4 Law and order Orientation– We follow rules without knowing why to keep order in society.
Postconventional
Stage 5 Social contact Orientation– When the majority of the people agree on a set of rules we must all follow them.
Stage 6 Universal-Ethical-Principal Orientation-We follow our own set of rules not to avoid punishment but because we have our own moral compass that we want to follow.
